The Hunger Games

The Hunger Games
By: Suzanne Collins

Outer back cover: In a dark vision of the near future, twelve boys and twelve girls are forced to appear in a live TV show called the Hunger Games. There is only one rule: kill or be killed.
When sixteen-year-old Katniss Everdeen steps forward to take her sister's place in the games, she sees it as a death sentence. But Katniss has been close to death before. For her, survival is second nature.

I've been wanting to read this trilogy since my sister was reading it last year and told me she really enjoyed it. I have to say I agree with her so far.

Televised fight to the death! It's a scary future, but not to hard to believe because of the way they describe the way it all started in the book. It's futuristic but at the same time I almost think that it's like going back in time as well. The difference between rich and poor is so big that it seems like the poor people lives in a completely different century.

The book is really interesting and there is so much happening all the time that I struggled with putting the book down. I think this is a book I will be able to read over and over again. I also really like the main character Katniss, it's nice to have a strong female main character that's actually able to fend for herself and take care of others instead of only being taken care of by others. Katniss' thoughts and actions were very realistic, being an independent person myself I could relate to some of the things she was thinking.

I'm looking forward to starting the next book in the trilogy, I think it might be just as exciting as the first but in a more emotional way maybe.

I think this is a book for everyone, both girls and boys, men and women can and should read this.
